Aspects of the week I found most valuable:
Although this past week flew by, I felt it was a great learning experience for me. Over the past few weeks I have been putting a great deal of time and energy into teaching Accounting I. Because of this, I expected my lessons to run smoothly. I have been getting anxious when I don't finish what I want to finish or if the lesson doesn't go the way I want it to. I don't get anxious in my other classes, as I know that being flexible and willing to change at the spur of the moment is part of teaching. Over the next few weeks, I am going to try not to sweat the little things and I am going to try to be more realistic about my daily teaching goals. I believe this will reduce anxiety and make me a better teacher in the end!
If given the opportunity to start the week over I would:
If I could start the week over, I would stress less over the little things. The past thirteen weeks have been stressful for all of us and I want to start looking at things more positively. It has been getting harder to be the energetic little guy I usually am. I hope that I can regain this enthusiasm and utilize it to make the next few weeks great!
Hope you all had a great week! See you all Monday.

Keep up the work and the energy will come back to you. I had a similar problem like this a couple weeks ago and eventually I was back to my normal self. If you just keep working hard everything will fall into place for you.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely can't worry about the little things and I'm glad you've realized this. I went through the same thing where I would get mad at myself for not getting through my entire planned lesson and would even rush at the end of the class periods to complete what I wanted. This does not benefit the students or teacher. The students do not grasp the concepts and we end up having to reteach what we rushed through. Just remember we are almost to the end and I know you'll bounce back to the energetic guy you are! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever seen you "un-energetic" or unenthusiastic in front of a classroom of students! You always have a smile on your face and try to wake up those sleepy and quiet Accounting I students first period in the morning. Give yourself more credit Mr. Lively...and the rest will follow! :)
