Aspects of the week I found most valuable:
This week flew bye just like many others. This past week was very valuable. I planned a group activity Tuesday for the Computer Applications classes. I found out second period that the students would have been much better off doing the assignment by themselves. I changed my plans for third period and the activity went very well. Sometimes little changes can make a world of difference. Over the last few weeks, I have been watching the students and I am really proud of what they have accomplished. It is nice to see things work so well when you put your heart into something.
If given the opportunity to start the week over I would:
If I could start the week over I would have put more thought into the group activity that didn't go as I planned. I have had group activities that worked well in the past. I believe some activities should just been done individually. At least I learned not to do this activity in groups when I use it in the future.
Hope you all had a great week! See you Monday.

Shawn, I see where you are coming from when it comes to having to change your plans around a bit. I do the same thing with my computer classes at Stroudsburg. I have a 1st and 9th period Advanced Computers class and I find myself altering my lesson plans for 9th period when I see some areas that would work better.
ReplyDeleteIt is good that you noticed that the group activity was not working out very well and you changed it as soon as possible for the next class. I find myself improving lessons for the second time around also. It is amazing now how we feel like there is no time to access ourselves and our teaching because we are so busy. Only a few days left.
ReplyDeleteAccounting I will be your most emotional part of your student teaching experience. Remember my "Penguin" reading at the Cooperative Teacher Dinner/Program. "Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted."
ReplyDeleteTake care Shawn. Learn and grow as you go. In the end, you will be the better person for all that you put into the Professional Semester.
